About Team Mesa Rim

We believe in igniting, supporting, and inspiring lifelong climbers of all ages and abilities. Our Youth Programs offer a fun and interactive rock climbing experience, whether participating on a team, engaging in group activities, or attending seasonal camps. Watch your children flourish! Summit Team

The Mesa Summit Training Group has the highest requirements in terms of: commitment to training, practice hours and attendance at competitions. This is the top tier group of Team Mesa Rim and will be the most selective.

What Coaches Assess for at Try-Outs:
-Motivation to improve both technically and physically
-Long term vision of climbing goals.
-Trust in the coaches and the process of Team Mesa Rim training
-Drive to compete at the highest level
-Willing to work through obstacles and push limits
-Team player–stays focused so the other athletes can work hard
-Positive influence for both younger and older athletes
-Consistent attendance at practice and willingness to climb outside of main training days.

Mesa Rim coaches structure practices around training and conditioning for USAC competitions, preparing the climbers for local, regional, divisional and national events. The Mesa Rim Summit Team receives discounts on outdoor apparel from the outdoor companies: Black Diamond and FiveTen.

Ascent/Jr. Ascent Club Team

The Mesa Ascent and Jr. Ascent Club Teams are for intermediate to advanced youth climbers ages 7-11 or 12-18. Mesa Ascent and Jr. Ascent will introduce climbers to competition climbing, climbing specific training, technique, and goal setting.

Main Training Day Options:
Ascent/Jr. Ascent 1: T,Th (Training Center and Mission Valley) 4:00-6:30pm*
Ascent/Jr Ascent 2: Th, Sat (Training Center only) 4:00-6:30pm* (Th) 10:00am-12:30pm (sat)
*practice ends at 7:00pm on T/Th at Mission Valley

Ages:
Jr. Ascent 7-12
Ascent 13-18

Membership Price:
$175 per month ($255 for three days)
(additional siblings on the club teams receive 10% off their membership)

Membership Includes:
-Membership at the main gyms
-2 family members receive 40% off of their membership
-50% off of FiveTen Climbing Shoes
-One practice jersey per season
-Discounts on classes at Mesa for the parents

Coach to Athlete Ratio:
6:1

Competitions:
Encouraged but not required

Pre-Requisites:
-Must attend try-outs or schedule a make-up session
-Belay certified @ Mesa Rim
-Has personal climbing gear: harness, belay device, chalk bag, climbing shoes*

-Has participated in:
Rock Monsters/Rock Techs, Summer Camps or Five Week Intro Program.

-Must be able to:
-climb and stay active for 2+ hours including general fitness exercises
-stay focused and motivated during structured training (2+ hours)
-work with both older and younger athletes (anywhere from 7-18).

*can purchase gear the first week of practice

Club Mini Mesa

Club Mini Mesa is for youth ages 4-6. They will learn the fundamentals of climbing, technique, and basic exercises. This program will introduce young climbers to competition climbing but they will not be required to compete.

Main Training Days:
T,TH 4:00-5:30pm (Mission Valley and Training Center)

Price:
Club Mini Mesa: $150 per month
(additional siblings on the club teams receive 10% off their membership)
